Dear Friends of Garage Headquarters

As we celebrate our 50th year in business, I want to thank the thousands of architects, commercial business owners, homeowners, and general contractors who have relied on our company for exceptional service and value over the years.

The company has come a long way since my father, Jim Grace, opened his small shop in 1973 on Fresno Road in Warwick. As far back as the 1970s when I was in elementary school, I recall my father being the company’s only sales rep responsible for making it happen, working with the one installer - who was also the service technician - for both residential and commercial jobsites.

Days that started with very early mornings did not end with him taking a work truck home after those long hours - they would continue through the night as he was also the emergency service contact for police and fire stations across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

Today, Garage Headquarters Companies continue to be recognized with awards of excellence for outstanding operating and sales performance. I couldn’t be more proud to lead a team of skilled and dedicated employees, to work with high-quality door product manufacturers, and especially to get the opportunity to serve the needs of our residential and commercial customers like you.

    THE BEGINNING OF A LEGACY

    James R. Grace awarded as the exclusive Overhead Door Corporation distributor for Rhode Island.

    Overhead Door Company of Providence starts as a small shop across from the airport.

  • Recieved our first (of many) honored EAGLE AWARDS from Overhead Door Corporation.

  • 1977

    On behalf of the team, James Grace continues to be recognized for award-winning performance by Overhead Door Corporation.

    The first to recycle more steel than any other Garage Door Company in New England.

  • James Grace thanks one of the “ORIGINAL 5” installers.

  • 1982

    THE TEAM GROWS

    Overhead Door Company of New Bedford is acquired.

  • Family, friends, employees, and James Grace celebrating lasting relationships since the 70s.

  • 1989

    Mayor and incoming U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee congratulates award-wining performance and OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS.

  • 1995

    Honored for OUTSTANDING SAFETY PERFORMANCE by Beacon Mutual Insurance.

    CELEBRATING 25 YEARS!

    Overhead Door of Providence and New Bedford recognized as “The Industry’s High-Tech Dealer.”

    Southeastern New England’s Largest, Independantly-Owned Garage Door Company becomes INDUSTRY ACCREDITED.

    DIVERSIFIED OFFERINGS

    Specified Building Products Corporation joins the family.

  • 2002

    Overhead Door Company of Southeastern Massachusetts opens, servicing the Greater Boston market.
